(2025) "Spider-Man Courtesy" Fan-Film, Costume/Character Design and Fabrication based off Legacy Comic-Book artwork
This helmet was custom designed and fabricated for the independent fan film, "Spider-Man Courtesy". I was commissioned to work on this film as a designer following the Director reaching out to me to inquire about my services. The character, "The Trapster", was to be present in the film as a side role and the production wanted to give homage to the character's comic-accurate look from the early 80's and 90's in Marvel Comics. With this direction, I designed and rendered a few versions of the helmet to match the shape of the original character design while incorporating some militarized/tangible greebling and edges that would help it pop when filmed. After two revisions, the director was happy with the design and gave the greenlight for Fabrication. The helmet was scaled to the dimensions of the actor and printed on a Bambu Lab P1S FDM 3D Printer in two pieces. It was then sanded to a polish, airbrushed, weathered, and sealed with an automotive 1k Clear Coat. Padded inserts were included inside the helmet for comfort when worn by the actor on set. Unfortunately, late into production, the character was cut from the final script and the helmet was not used in the final cut.
